Priscilla Continues in Her Recovery
For those of you that have been inquiring about our Italian Greyhound, Priscilla, we wanted to update you on her progress. Priscilla is now in a soft cast and it appears that she won’t lose her leg!!!! She still has six more weeks of recovery but is putting partial weight down on the leg and is getting lotsof love and attention from our staff and volunteers. Priscillas recovery is costly and we would like to thank those of you who have been able to assist us. If you would like to make a donation, please click on the donation window, or you can mail your contribution directly to Pet Pal Animal Shelter @ 405 22nd Street South, St. Petersburg, Fl 33711. Thank you and we’ll keep you posted!
Why Older Dogs Rock
Puppies and kittens have the “cute appeal” but I’ll let you in on a secret…older animals rock!!! Why you ask? Well, let me put it this way…
#8 We are WAY over the chewing phase. #7 We generally walk better on a leash. #6 We have fewer accidents -pleeease-how juvenile!! #5 We are already familiar with people, other dogs, etc. #4 You know what you’re getting when you adopt an older dog #3 We really aren’t THAT old-1 canine year doesn’t really equal 7 human years-heck we’re just hitting our prime! #2 Some else has already done the training for you and…the #1 one reason for adopting an older dog-If you adopt us, we will love you for life-and that’s a promise!
Snooker’s Grill Fund Raiser

Tails on Tap coming in September
Get ready for our next big event! On Saturday, September 18th from 6-9pm, The Sports Bar and Grill located at 9685 Bay Pines Blvd will be hosting a FREE event (yes, I said FREE) on behalf of Pet Pal Animal Shelter. Stop on for college football and stay on to hear the band, Screamin’ Donkey rock out to music from the 80′s and 90′s. There will be silent auction items to bid on and a 50/50 raffle but most of all there will be fun…and who couldn’t use a little fun these days?! For more information, contact mary@petpalanimalshelter.com
Please Help Priscilla
Priscilla was brought into an animal emergency clinic in Tampa after she had fallen and fractured her leg. Priscilla’s owner could not afford to pay for her treatment and contacted Pet Pal Animal Shelter who agreed to take responsibility for this girl. Since being at the shelter, Priscilla has undergone surgery to have a pin inserted into her leg. Shortly after the procedure, the pin slipped and it had to be reset. Priscilla has been placed on cage rest until she can be medically cleared by our veterinarian. Medical bills have already totaled more that $2,500 and Pet Pal’s Emergency Medical Fund has dropped drastically. Please find it in your heart to donate-any amount-to help us get Priscilla and other dogs like her, well so that we can put them up for adoption and find them loving homes.
Plato has gone Hollywood!
Plato is featured in a new video by Scott and Terra Sroka. Many thanks to Scott and Terra, musicians Amy White and Al Petteway http://www.alandamy.com/ and Solid Air Records http://www.solidairrecords.com/, who allowed the use of the haunting “Ghost on a Carousel.”

Risa Needs a Home!
Why is Risa still here? Why indeed. She has been with us for 1 year now and she deserves a place to call home. Risa is lovable and affectionate. She enjoys going for walks and to the dog park. She plays well with most dogs but prefers the company of males (that’s my girl!) Risa is the Great American Brown Dog and she is looking for a family to call her own-could that be yours? Please view our ADOPTABLE DOGS section to see Risa picture.
Microchips are Worth their Weight in Gold!
During the summer months, when kids are at home from school, gates can accidentally be left open. Plus, as we all know, Florida is notorious for its thunderstorms. Animals unknowingly run for cover and can easily get lost. A microchip will bring them home safely to you. Micrcochips can be inserted at any vet’s office, including Pet Pal’s Affordable Veterinary Care Clinic (727) 328-7729. Don’t wait-it’s easy, safe and affordable. Please read our summer newsletter to find out how a microchip reunited a local man with his dog.
Help us reach our goal!
Our goal at Pet Pal is to get 1000 fans for our Face Book page. We presently have 719. If you’re not already a fan, please consider becoming one. If you already are, reach out to your other face book buddies. Everyone needs a dose of puppy and kitty cuteness to put a smile on their face!
